Stephen Hill might as well change his name to Mr. BET. Having made the transition from being a teacher to a radio executive, working at MTV and then effortlessly rising to the ranks of co-president of entertainment and music for BET, Hill’s influence and power over the masses through the music programming under his direction is unyielding. Not only does he oversee the production of 106 & Park—the highest-rated show on BET, which ousted former slot competitor TRL in 2008—he also produces the hour-long show The Deal and serves as an executive producer for the Spring Bling and Rip the Runway specials. The TV mogul and Washington, DC, native is also active in the fight against AIDS, as shown in his work with BET’s Rap-It-Up AIDS awareness campaign.
